Are Askem buttons cookieless?
Data stored from the customer's website and visits
The tools embedded on the client's website store information about the site itself, the number of page loads, clicks on reaction and share buttons, and the time spent on the page.
The code embedded on the client's page stores the following data from the client's website, and React & Share Oy acts as the data processor for the personal data.
Page load
The tool embedded on the customer's site records the information described below, based on what is found in the content management system or the page's metadata. The information can also be configured manually.
- Page canonical URL
- Page title
- Page publish date
- Page authors
- Page tags
- Page categories
- Timestamp
- Traffic source (HTTP Referrer or utm_source)
Reaction buttons
The following data is stored when a user clicks a reaction button:
- Which reaction button was clicked
- Whether the reaction was toggled on or off
- Timestamp
Anonymous feedback
The following data is stored when a user leaves feedback:
- Which reaction was clicked before leaving the feedback
- The text feedback
- Timestamp
Reading time
The following data is stored: active reading time.
Cookie practices
The Askem Feedback embeds do not store cookies or information comparable to cookies (incl. local storage, cookies) in the user's browser, nor do they utilize third-party cookies.
Note: Askem also has a legacy Classic button plug-in that uses cookies. This plugin is used only if requested by customers and in addition provides share buttons and content recommendations.
The following data is stored when a user clicks a share button:
- Which reaction was clicked before sharing
- Which share button was clicked
- Timestamp
